Disability Disaster Access & Resources (DDAR) Program
The Disability Disaster Access & Resources (DDAR) Program assists individuals with disabilities and older adults in disaster readiness and recovery.
This program provides individuals with the following services before, during and after disasters or other emergencies like public safety power shutoffs.
Information & Assistance
- Provide community with resources to help mitigate the impact of emergencies.
Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Education and Training
- Educating and training community on emergency and disaster preparedness.
- Assisting community in signing up for programs such as medical baseline; and public safety power shutoff and local emergency alerts.
Backup Electricity Support
- Working with partners such as SoCal Edison to provide backup electricity support to mitigate the effects of public safety power shutoffs on people with disabilities.
Personal Preparedness Planning Assistance
- Assisting individuals in creating personal preparedness plans to become better prepared for emergencies and disasters.
Public Awareness and Advocacy
- Creating awareness campaigns and advocating for the needs of people with disabilities at the local, state, and federal levels of emergency management.
- Advocating for the needs of members before, during and after a disaster.
