Disability Community Resource Center (DCRC) wishes you and yours a very happy holiday season and a prosperous new year! On behalf of our Board of Directors and Staff, we thank you for supporting our work throughout 2022. With your help, our team provided intensive case management in independent living services and supports to more than 500 individuals with disabilities. We provided peer counseling and support, information and referral, independent living skills instruction, self-advocacy and systems advocacy, transitions services from institutional settings to community living, personal assistant services, housing assistance, benefits counseling, assistive technology training and support, employment counseling and job training, behavioral health support, emergency preparedness and response, public health education, computer skills training, food distribution, home modifications and other services to promote the independence of people with disabilities.
DCRC continues to be on the leading edge of Independent Living 2.0, by responding to emerging community needs while also planning for and promoting an inclusive future. We vaccinated and boosted over 415 people through vaccination clinics at our Center and provided public health education and pandemic recovery services to thousands more. We are responding to the tremendous housing crisis in Los Angeles by partnering with housing advocates and developers to build the first fully accessible affordable housing project in the country as a model for creating a sustainable, healthy and thriving community. We are partnering with LA28 to help plan for the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games in Los Angeles to be the most intersectional, inclusive and diverse Games in history as reflected in local economic development, job creation and accessibility for people with disabilities.
