Gary Rhoades, Esq. has been a DCRC board member since 2019. He is also a member of DCRC’s Housing Committee.

Since 2006, Gary has been a Santa Monica Deputy City Attorney working on efforts against housing discrimination and consumer fraud. A 1993 graduate from the University of California-Davis School of Law, he has litigated hundreds of housing and consumer protection cases, including many to enforce the rights of tenants with disabilities. He has published numerous articles on the topics of housing discrimination, reasonable accommodations, COVID-19 housing issues, unlawful business practices, and fraud, and is a frequent speaker about these issues.

Gary’s past honors include California Lawyer Magazine’s award as a California Lawyer of the Year (CLAY) and the UC-Davis School of Law’s Martin Luther King Jr. Public Service Award. Gary also owns a hay farm in Missouri from where he hosts concerts and creativity retreats.
